Did you know that Walsall hosts one of the hundreds of free weekly park runs every Saturday morning at 9am at the Arboretum?
The “Parkrun” organisation is a not for profit company promoting health and fitness by organising weekly running events in parks throughout the UK and several other countries. All runs are free and open to anyone of any level of fitness. They all take place at 9am on Saturday mornings every weekend over a distance of 5Km (just over 3 miles). Participants include complete novices looking to get fit, people looking to lose weight, families with children, and more experienced regular runners.
The events are friendly social gatherings that are helping the nation get fit and healthy so why not try one out. It costs nothing. Just visit http://www.parkrun.org.uk/ to register for a barcode that will be used to record your run time. Your barcode is scanned at the end of every run and your time is emailed out to you, complete with your statistics from previous runs and your age-related score that tells you how you match up to others in your age group.
